Her episode of Hopelessly in Love hasn’t even aired yet, but Faith Evans is already unhappy with how she’s been portrayed. The Lifetime series will feature the relationships between Andre Rison and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead, and Faith and Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace.
The three living partners chronicle their rocky relationships and what it was like being with their superstar partners, but not everyone is happy with the finished product. According to Page Six, Faith has stated that she’s disappointed with how Lifetime shared her story.
“I feel upset that I’m attached to it,” the singer reportedly said. “I was told that it would be a positive piece with a little more of my personal background. It wasn’t pitched to me as a story rehashing the sensationalized events that took place. I am beyond that and have no need to open old wounds, damage repaired relationships and, above all, soil the legacy of Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G.”
Faith added, “The Tupac stuff, the different women — how many times are people going to talk about that? It was supposed to be a love story, and it turns into cheating and [Lil’] Kim. We’ve come so far past that. [Lifetime’s] all about drama.”
Apparently, the entire Wallace family isn’t happy with the network. “Everyone was blindsided,” Faith added. “She has worked very hard for his legacy to be acknowledged in a more positive light. He’s nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This [documentary] is taking steps backward.”
The “Soon as I Get Home” singer also said that she refuses to promote the series. Check out the extended trailer below.
