Pink Donates $500K To Australian Recovery Efforts

For a month now, Australia has been devastated by brushfires. Over ten million acres—and counting—have been destroyed, and half a million wildlife creatures have lost their lives. It’s reported that over 20 people have died in connection with the fires, homes have been ruined, and the air quality is unbearable. A state of emergency has been issued and celebrities have begun sharing information about the fires in hopes of raising awareness.

Pop singer Pink tweeted her support, writing that she intends on donating a large sum of money to help with recovery efforts. “I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires,” Pink wrote. “I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz.”

Chris Brown, Iggy Azalea, Naomi Watts, and Leonardo DiCaprio are just a handful of other celebrities who are helping to aid in rescue efforts. If you feel compelled to help, as well, please just donate with caution and make sure to check that the charity or organization you are interested in giving towards is reputable.
